The Università degli Studi di Brescia was officially established in 1982 with three Schools: Medicine and Surgery, Engineering, Economics and Business. However, the creation phase lasted nearly two decades, so the first attempts to open university courses in Brescia go back to the 1960s.
Through management of the right to study, the University of Brescia grants total or partial exemption from taxes and fees and facilitates attendance of University Programmes and use of University facilities, with particular focus on those who are capable and deserving but are socially and financially disadvantaged, by offering them the chance to take advantage of housing and catering services; it also promotes, supports and advertises activities providing services for students enrolled in its programmes, encouraging the creation of communities for students and teaching staff that promote knowledge integration.
The University of Brescia promotes initiatives aimed at internationalization, European and international exchange agreements and cooperation programs to encourage mobility of students and researchers. The result is a wide choice of dual awards, degree courses held in English, international summer schools, togheter with higly-recognized scientifich research and important international awards.

The InfoStudente service has been operative since 1 July 2015: this electronic service allows students and external users to request and obtain information online via a guided platform. Students can also use this service to make an appointment with the students’ careers services offices.

An overall sum of Euro 87,000.00 is made available by the Università degli Studi di Brescia for cultural and social projects and activities related to the university and promoted by its students.During the year, two calls for applications (bando) are programmed for the allocation of this sum.
