Maria Curie Skłodowska University was established in three months after Nazi’s occupation ended in Lublin. A group of scholars from Lviv and scientists who survived the occupation of Lublin started to work in Lublin Catholic University, which used to specialise in humanist sciences.
We provide education within 12 faculties in over 60 programmes and 200 specializations.
Research, along with education, constitutes the most important sphere of university activity. UMCS conducts research at eleven Faculties and at the University’s interdisciplinary centers. These investigations bring numerous remarkable achievements and are the foundation for scholarly development of the academic staff. Every year ca. 40 doctoral and 20 postdoctoral degrees and 20 professorial titles are conferred at the University.

UMCS is proud to offer nine dormitories located in a close proximity to the city centre (2600 vacancies in total) in different standard levels.
We offer single, double and triple rooms. Each dormitory has a common room, a TV room, a laundry and quiet study rooms. Each room has access to the Internet. Moreover, the university offers additional rooms for part-time and extramural students coming to Lublin for a few nights a month.
The studies I currently participate are good enough. Though, it would be nice to implement improvements such as: new-school study program, more hidh-quality equipment(especially computers) and the approach to the way of learning.
The university provides profound and interesting courses, as well as gives an opportunity to choose elective courses and during second semester to choose specialization. I personally chose International Place Branding and it is a great oportunity to gain more knowledge about the branding of countries, cities and NGOs.
I really enjoyed this course. The course includes a wide variety of subjects. During my studies on this course I get from B2 to C1 level (English) and from B2 to C1 (Polish). I also gain translating and interpreting skills. I can really recommed this course for those who want to become a translator.
