History
Kempten University of Applied Sciences was established in 1978 with 82 students in a rented building. While the accession of Pope John Paul II, the first balloon crossing of the Atlantic and the last VW Beetle to be manufactured in Germany were making the national and international headlines, the breaking news in Allgäu was the new university and its ambitious target of 1.000 students.

Research
Around 40 professors conduct research at the Kempten University of Applied Sciences together with their employees in various research institutions. Competent and application-oriented, they conduct research with creative excellence, especially for medium-sized businesses. Thanks to the interdisciplinary cooperation both internally and externally, a network of diverse expertise is created that makes innovative and sustainable contributions to solving important social challenges.
