By engaging with local and global collaborators, the Centre for Applied Research, Technology and Innovation (CARTI) facilitates solutions to challenges confronting these organizations. We can guide you in developing strategies for effective job searching, while connecting you with businesses and organizations that are seeking new employees. Find a great place to live through our Off-Campus Student Housing Service. Students can browse apartments and houses for rent, post a personal profile and hunt for roommates. Information is reviewed and posted daily, so you know your housing information is always up-to-date.General listings are also available through local newspapers.NIC campuses are located in the heart of each community we serve, making it convenient for students to arrive by bicycle, bus, or carpool with classmates.Plus, secure, affordable housing options are available off campus, throughout the community.
North Island College bookstores provide a wide range of services to the NIC community, with stores located in the Campbell River, Comox Valley, and Port Alberni campuses. In addition to textbooks and other learning resources, the stores sell a selection of trade books, stationery and school supplies, art supplies, greeting cards, gifts, snacks and convenience goods.
Computer access is available in the library, computer labs and at Student Services as noted below. Also, wireless network access is widely available for student use at all campuses.All computer lab times are subject to change and will be posted outside the labs in advance.
College facilities include four campuses and three centres. We serve a population of 155,000 and a geographical region of 80,000 of Vancouver Island and the BC mainland coast from Desolation Sound to Swindle Island. Our wide range of program options is supported by a dedicated faculty, staff and administration - all working together to help students achieve their goals.
The fitness room at the Campbell River campus is available free of charge for NIC and Timberline students and staff. The Sportsplex provides student discounts for their facilities including: racquetball & squash courts, weight room, large gym, tennis, volleyball, disc golf, bocce, sports field, and skate/terrain park. The Comox Valley Sports and Aquatic Centres provide student discounts for all their facilities including fitness centre, pool and arenas.
