History
York College was founded on August 26, 1890, by the United Brethren Church in conjunction with York citizens who wanted a church-related college. In 1946, a merger with the Evangelical Church resulted in control of the college passing to the newly-formed Evangelical United Brethren (EUB) Church.
Education
With almost 40 AS & A Level courses on offer, York College boasts the widest choice in the region. A Level students study a personalised learning programme in a unique environment, which allows them to flourish, prepares them for examinations, and takes them beyond the A Level specification to see what higher level courses will be like.

Housing services
Finding the right place to live is a very important part of your preparation for study at York College. The College does not have its own accommodation but we do work with a large network of homestay providers who offer a safe, comfortable, British home from home!All of our homestays are within walking distance of the College or a short bus ride away. The College carries out all necessary checks to make sure that homestay providers meet national standards of quality and safety, giving all students the best possible year in the UK.
Library services
With books and periodicals, DVDs, computers, and multifunction printers and photocopiers, our well-equipped Learning Centre is the ideal place in which to study and do research. Help desks are staffed by specialists who can help you to find out what you need to know and how to use the equipment.
Medical services
Depending on the needs of the client, sports massage incorporates a variety of techniques including: kneading, soft tissue release, joint mobilisations, stretching and heat therapy. Sports massage has many benefits. In addition to feeling good, sports massage reduces the heart rate and blood pressure, increases blood circulation and lymph flow.
Sports facilities
The £60million York College building offers state of the art sports facilities for hire to the public. We have the following facilities available to hire: Synthetic turf pitch (STP), Sports Hall and Multi Use Games Area (MUGA).
Student clubs
All students are encouraged to take up a range of options to participate in new and exciting activities, develop personal skills, make new friends and gain valuable experience. Our Xtra-curricular activities run on a daily basis throughout the week at college. Each session is aimed to fit around every timetable and students have the freedom to choose which sessions they want to run and attend.
York College has been recognised as one of the leading Colleges in the country after it was judged ‘Outstanding’ by national inspection body Ofsted during an inspection which took place between 9th to 13th December 2013.
