History
The University of Rwanda (UR) was established by the Government of Rwanda. It resulted from the merge of the nation’s seven public Higher Learning Institutions into a consolidated entity governed by the Board of Governors and an Academic Senate with strong staff and student representation, along with the Vice Chancellor who is the University’s chief executive officer.

University Ranking
Housing services
Accommodation is a private arrangement for each student. There is limited accommodation in University hostels on each Campus. Allocation of rooms to campus hostels is managed by the Campus Director of Students Welfare. Due to limited rooms, priority is normally given to female students, first year students and students with serious social problems (identified by the Students Guild Council).
