The first public University founded after Taiwan’s economic boom in the 1980′s, National Chung Cheng University broke ground after the Executive Yuan passed the plan to build the university in 1986 in honor of the late president CHIANG Kai-Shek and to develop higher education in the Yun-lin, Chia-yi, and Tainan areas. It was officially founded on July 1, 1989 with Dr. LIN Ching-Jiang being the first president of the University.

The Division of Admissions is responsible for all aspects of student admissions, including applications and examinations. The Division of Curriculum and Instruction handles curriculum changes, student registration, filing of student records and transcripts, freshmen enrollment, and evaluation of seniors for graduation.
The Chih-yuan Guest House was designed and built by architects Lan, Chih-kuang and Chung, To-huan. Part of the construction project during the preparation stage of CCU, the Guest House has been providing accommodation services since 1991.
The Guest House aims to offer on-campus accommodation for visitors and honorable guests traveling from places afar. Surrounded by the Tranquility Lake, green meadows and woods, the Guest House resembles a country resort with its beautiful scenery.The campus is located in the central part of Chia-yi County, 15 kilometers from the City of Chia-yi, which is approximately 250 kilometers south of Taipei. The campus occupies an open landscape of 132 hectares on a hill, with more than 200,000 trees of various species.
National Chung Cheng University is renowned not only for the academic achievement of every department but also for the reputation of organizing sport and exercise events such as Universiade Games 2005 of Taiwan. PEC is also responsible for facilitating students, staffs and communities to be active in performance (competitive) sport, recreational sports and physical exercise by means of physical education courses design, student sport teams, managing sport facilities and organizing sport camps and training for all generations. Our main task is to promote physical fitness and to build healthy life style.
