History
Founded in 1964, Unicamp is recognized as one of the three best universities in Latin America.
Education
- Throughout its history, UNICAMP has placed special emphasis on graduate education, with about half its students body composed of graduate students. Currently, UNICAMP offers 142 graduate programs, covering most fields of knowledge.
- UNICAMP currently offers 70 different undergraduate degrees, including medicine, dentistry, several engineering majors, basic natural and human sciences, applied sciences, education and arts. Its admission process is one of the most competitive in Brazil, selecting only 3,320 applicants from over 75 thousand yearly. Undergraduate education at UNICAMP is free of charge.
Research
- The university has nearly 1,800 faculty members with a prolific research output – close to 8% of all indexed scientific papers in Brazil include an author or coauthor from UNICAMP.
- Perhaps, more important than the volume of scientific production is its quality. The total number of scientific papers published in ISI Web of Knowledge indexed journals was of 3,149 in 2013. UNICAMP has the highest article to faculty member ratio in Brazil.

Student services
- Unicamp Internacional is a group of volunteer students that can help you with information and assistance before and during your stay at Unicamp.
- The group was created in 2015 by students who wanted to improve the integration of foreign students at Unicamp by organizing cultural events around and outside the campus, such as picnics, international dinners, parties and trips. They also run a very successful buddy program among students.
Housing services
Unicamp does not provide university dormitories for exchange students, however, we at the International Office can help you find accommodation.
Medical services
At UNICAMP, all registered students can also count with our internal care center for students,staff and teachers. It is called CECOM and offers medical and dental assistance.
UNICAMP owns three large hospitals. Visitors can use the University Hospitals in case of emergency.
Campus life
The main campus of Unicamp is located at the district of Barão Geraldo, 5 miles away from downtown Campinas.
