Mathematics in University of São Paulo
I believe my Teaching Degree in Mathematics from the University of São Paulo (USP) was an exceptionally enriching experience that provided a robust foundation across three major fields of study: mathematics, physics, and pedagogy. In mathematics, I acquired a deep and well-rounded understanding of subjects such as linear algebra, calculus, abstract algebra, mathematical analysis, and set theory. Regarding physics, my coursework covered essential topics like mechanics, optics, electromagnetism, and thermodynamics. Finally, in the pedagogy area, I gained critical comprehension of subjects including didactics, educational psychology, and methodology in mathematical education. Beyond coursework, my undergraduate experience was significantly enhanced by practical engagement and international exposure. I had the valuable opportunity to serve as a tutor for extension projects focused on teaching programming to high school girls, as well as for mandatory subjects like Mathematics in Basic Education. These roles provided me with direct experience in curriculum development and mentorship, further solidifying my teaching and communication skills. Furthermore, I participated in an exchange program at Charles University in Prague, through a partnership between the institutions. This experience allowed me to delve deeper into Computer Science, taking challenging courses like Introduction to Algorithms, Programming 1, and Propositional and Predicate Logic. This opportunity was pivotal, as it provided the in-depth study in computer science I desired, complementing my mathematics background and broadening my analytical skills. Throughout my degree, I also completed mandatory teaching placements in schools, which gave me a crucial, firsthand understanding of the teaching profession and its contemporary challenges. In summary, my time at USP, one of the leading universities globally, afforded me a strong, multidisciplinary education combined with practical teaching experience and focused study abroad. I am confident that this robust and diverse background positions me exceptionally well to successfully pursue a Master's degree in any of these related fields, particularly those at the intersection of mathematics and computer science.
Good, but can improve
It has a lot of opportunities to get over the class thing. You can find other activities, such as sports, learning new languages, participating in band or choir etc. But the courses of the Chemistry post-graduation programme could be improved, some of them seem outdated.
