The Language Academy

When you arrive at the Language Academy, a member of Language Academy staff will meet you and check your registration. Next you will be asked to take a placement test composed of a written and listening test. Then you will have an interview with the Director of Studies or a Senior Teacher. During this conversation your understanding of spoken English will be assessed. Level placement is based on the combined results of these two tests. During the first day, Language Academy staff will introduce you to the school, the local amenities and life in Fort Lauderdale.

• Hotels

Reservations will be made for you at hotels, many of which are only a few minutes from the Academy. Language Academy offers a wide selection of hotels at a wide range of prices.

• Apartments

These are located within easy reach of the Academy and offer single or double occupancy. The Academy does not arrange roommates for shared apartment.

• Home-Stay

You can stay with an American host in order to practice your English during your free-time and week-ends. Home-stay providers are carefully chosen and they enjoy hosting international participants. You can stay with a family or with a single host.

Medical treatment can be very expensive in the United States. Insurance can be arranged through the school for doctor's visits or urgent hospital treatment for a nominal amount per month. The Administrator of the Academy will assist you in making appointments with doctors or dentists if you need treatment during your stay.
