The first steps on the path of what is now the University of Beira Interior (UBI) were given in the 70, when the Instituto Politécnico da Covilhã (IPC) was born, in 1973.
The network of university residences, apartments and suites of SASUBI are intended to accommodate displaced students, enrolled in the University of Beira Interior and, preferably, scholarship holders. These homes provide several services that may be of interest to the student, and whose applications are formalized on an annual basis, in the determined periods by the services.
The analysis of each application is based on the evaluation criteria defined in the regulation of the halls of residence of SASUBI.
The library of the University of Beira Interior, in comparison with other secular university libraries, is too young. Because of its recent history (it was born in 1982, in Pole I), the rapid growth of UBI and due to the location of its faculties, it is constituted, since 1996, by the library of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (pole Ernesto Cruz);
The main mission of the Cuture and Sports sector of the Social Action Services of the University of Beira Interior (SASUBI) is to promote the regular practice of sports by the entire academic community of UBI.
