About

History

Established in 1969, ELC Bristol is a family-run English language school.

Education

English Language Centre Bristol offers intensive General English courses and Examination Preparation courses for the IELTS and Cambridge exams.

With the focus on teaching General English and preparing students for internationally recognised examinations, we aim to provide high quality education in the English language by recruiting and retaining a team of experienced and qualified teachers and by being committed as a school to the progress and welfare of each individual student.

Career

Students who would like help to find a job in the UK can join the ELC job club. There are group sessions for an hour after school on alternate Thursday afternoons. We also offer students some support on a 1:1 basis to give them personal guidance and to help fine tune their CVs or cover letters. The job club operates in 4-weekly cycles, 8 times a year.

Services

Student services

Every class has a student class rep whose job is to help new students settle in by answering any questions they may have and also by showing them where everything is and how everything works. We have student reps in all of our residential student properties too.

Housing services

  • Almost all of our accommodation is located within walking distance of the school.
  • ELC Bristol is in Clifton, one of the best areas of town.
  • As most of our students live within walking distance of the school, they don't always need to take public transport.
  • We arrange the accommodation ourselves and don't use an agency.
  • The school was established 47 years ago and many of our homestays have been with us for years.
  • 55% of our students live in homestays, 35% live in independent student houses and apartments and 10% find their own accommodation.
