The Warsaw School of Photography and Graphic Design was founded in 2000 by Marian Schmidt, a renaissance man who obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics in the US and is an Associate Professor in Artistic Photography. He worked at Rapho in Paris with Doisneau, Boubat and Ronis. Besides the regular courses, we encourage students to find their own path and become independent in learning and creation.
We offer a top European higher and professional education in photography and graphic design at a lower cost. Living in Warsaw is much more economical than in western European cities. Our B.A. programmes last three and a half years. Our Postgraduate Programmes last one year ( not an M.A. Programme ). Our B.A. and Postgraduate Diplomas are valid in 48 countries including the European Union and China. We also offer Professional & Artistic Programmes which last from one to three years. We emphasize both practice and theory,visual sensitivity and aesthetics which will allow our graduates to obtain work in a variety of media professions.
Our graduates obtain work in a variety of professions: fashion photography, photojournalism, commercial photography, photo editing in periodicals, graphic designers, web designers, academic lecturers, retoucher. They open their own photography and graphic design companies and established a market position. Our graduates are also successful as artists. They exhibit in galleries and photo festivals, publish their work i prestigious periodicals and win international contests.
Health insurance is mandatory for all students for the whole duration of their stay in Poland. International students are advised to purchase third party liability insurance and accident insurance in their home countries. EU/EFTA citizens should get a European Health Insurance Card valid during their stay in Poland.
