History
Newcastle College's origins go back over 120 years to 1894 when Rutherford Memorial College was established at Rye Hill. Over the years the college has grown and expanded to nine other satellite sites across Newcastle, Gateshead and North Tyneside.
Education
We offer over 100 full-time vocational courses, for those aged 16 -18, who are looking for a more practical and career-focused way of learning that will enable them to progress into higher education or into employment. For adult learners we have over 300 part-time, evening, daytime, and weekend courses which range from those designed to help you get back into work, retrain for a new career, or if you wish to start a new hobby.

Library services
Situated at the heart of the Rye Hill Campus, the main library has over 70,000 resources covering subject areas from administration to sport. This branch also houses our collection of CDs, videos and DVDs.
