Out there to make it big
I am yet to experience the study program at the university
Short review of UCL Odense
The university provides us with a good educational environment. The facility does not give out a "school vibe" rather a pleasant working environment. The internal system and communication within the school has many flaws but that is expected to be in a huge corporation like this one.
No title
Studying IoT in Denmark has been an enriching experience. What I particularly liked was the hands-on approach to learning, with a strong emphasis on practical projects and real-world applications. The collaborative environment among students and faculty also fostered a dynamic learning atmosphere. However, there's room for improvement in terms of access to the latest technologies and industry partnerships for more comprehensive practical exposure. Additionally, enhancing the diversity of course offerings to cater to a broader range of interests within the IoT field could further enrich the academic experience. Overall, my study experience in IoT in Denmark has been positive, equipping me with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for navigating the evolving landscape of IoT technology.
Student services
We value a good study environment. We strive for optimal organisation of the premises and there are several facilities that you can expect to have access to no matter which study programme you choose, or where it is located. Our classrooms are modernly equipped with everything needed to provide the optimal learning settings. We provide access to WiFi, libraries, conference facilities, access to student counsellors and lecturers when needed - and good canteen facilities and selections.
We know that there is more to life than lectures and exams. Social activities such as introductory week, team building, events, parties etc. are just some of the things that you can expect as a student at Lillebaelt Academy.
Housing services
You are responsible for searching for and finding accommodation. There are many possibilities and until now we have managed to assist most international full-degree students to find accommodation.
The monthly living costs including rent are approximately 5,000-6,000 DKK (corresponds to approximately 670-800 Euro).
In Denmark it is common to pay a deposit before moving in. The deposit usually corresponds to two-three months rent and you also pay the first month’s rent in advance.
Nordic and EU Citizens are guaranteed accommodation by the city of Odense. Our student helpers are also happy to assist you.
Library services
The library has most of the information you will need during your studies at Lillebaelt Academy -also online access to relevant professional databases. If you need materials we do not have – books or periodical articles – the librarian will assist you, either by ordering it from another library or by telling you where you can find it.
ICT services
At Lillebaelt Academy we use the online learning system Fronter. On Fronter you will find information about your courses, schedules, news, and much more. When you start at Lillebaelt Academy you will receive a student login from your student coordinator.
As a student in Odense you can always contact the IT department.Medical services
If you are staying in Denmark on a residence permit, i.e. if you are here for at least three months, you are automatically included in the Danish Health Insurance Scheme when you register at the National Register. This gives you the right to free medical treatment by a general practitioner and in public hospitals.
Campus life
Lillebaelt Academy has campuses in the two cities Odense and Vejle, located in the region of Southern Denmark.
2,500 students will be gathered at the new campus in Odense, and with the placement in the centre of Odense, the study environment will be fantastic. The contact with the local businesses will be strengthened, and the academy and the new campus will influence and shape the surroundings and life in Odense.
Lillebaelt Academy in Vejle is placed in the centre of the education environment of Vejle. The new campus makes it easier to foster a great study environment, and the students have better opportunities to interact and work across the different study programmes.Sports facilities
We do not offer sports facilities on campus, however, the cities of Odense and Vejle offer many sports possibilities such as gyms and sports clubs.
We know that there is more to life than lectures and exams, which is why we find it important that you have a good social environment. Social activities such as introductory week, team building, events, parties etc. are just some of the things that you can expect as a student at Lillebaelt Academy.
Party committees, Friday bar committees, or perhaps sports committees can be appointed under the responsibility of the two different councils.Student clubs
Being at eye level with the students is a central value. This is why student democracy is an important part of the organisation. The overall purpose is to make sure that there is an ongoing dialogue between the management and the students to secure an involving study environment and quality of our study programmes. At Lillebaelt Academy the students are represented on several levels and with different focus.
The study council is closely related to the study programmes and consists of representatives from all study programmes and the head of department. The student council consists of representatives from the study councils and the principal. DSR deals with different themes of concern to the entire academy.Accreditation
The study programmes offered by the academy are all approved by the Ministry of Education.
In 2013 new regulations with regards to accreditation were adopted, meaning that in the future, higher education institutions will be accredited as one institution rather than per study programme. In 2017, it will be Lillebaelt Academy’s turn to apply for accreditation as an institution.
