Overview
The core areas are molecular biotechnology, biocatalysis, and environmental, food, enzyme and bioprocess technology. Students benefit from access to the excellently equipped laboratories and modern infrastructure. The Biotechnology program is offered at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz).
Content
- You learn working and analytical methods used in the fields of microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and gene, enzyme and fermentation technology.
- You carry out experiments at the cutting edge of science and technology.
- You evaluate the results of experiments, identify problems and develop proposals for solutions.
- You learn to critically analyse scientific data, interpret them responsibly and with integrity, and present them clearly.
- You use modern information technologies.
- You work in teams and present the results of projects or scientific work.
Career Options
Graduates are employed in leading positions in both the basic and applied sciences in academia and industry. Biotechnologists plan experiments and analyses, implement these, and examine existing solutions. Their problem-solving skills are needed for research and technological development.
Graduates work in the following areas:
- industrial biotechnology,
- chemical manufacturing using biocatalytic processes,
- pharmaceutical research,
- food technology,
- environmental biotechnology,
- agricultural research,
- in relevant university and non-university research institutions, and
- with public authorities or in public offices.
