Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering is offered as a joint programme shared between Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) and Karl-Franzens-University in the framework of the NAWI Graz project. The interdisciplinary master’s programme Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) connects the natural sciences of chemistry and pharmacy with the engineering field of chemical and process engineering. In this one-of-a-kind study, you work together with internationally recognized lecturers in well-equipped laboratories. The study qualifies you to conduct high-quality national and international and to develop innovative chemical and pharmaceutical production systems for industry.

In this area specialization, you gain expertise in chemical and process engineering and learn about the mission of the chemical industries of the future – to develop sustainable and economical chemical processes.


Intelligent pharmaceutical products will revolutionize medical care: Personalised products can be customized to fit the age, sex and lifestyle of individual patients. You learn ways to develop pharmaceutical products more quickly and reduce production costs.

English requirements

TOEFL admission requirements TOEFL® IBT The TOEFL iBT® is given online through the internet at designated testing site. The test measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The score refers to the total score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading), each subject has a range of 0 - 30.
IELTS admission requirements IELTS The International English Language Test System (IELTS) tests your English-language proficiency on a scale of 1 – 9. The score refers to the combined average score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading).

General requirements

According to the curriculum, graduates of the following degree programmes offered at TU Graz and University of Graz will be accepted without an admission procedure:

  • Bachelor's degree programme Chemistry
  • Diplomstudium Pharmazie (University of Graz)

Graduates of all other degree programmes offered at the TU Graz or, in the case of a NAWI Graz programme, the University of Graz, also do not have to undergo the admission procedure.
