The Master of Statistics offered by the University of Wollongong covers a wide range of statistical theory and practice and provides advanced training to practising statisticians or those aiming to become one.
This program is also designed to prepare students for further postgraduate research degrees in statistics.
What you will study
Subjects include: Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery, Mathematics for Cryptography, and enhanced programs in Differential Equations Partial Differential Equations, Financial Calculus, Operations Research, Numerical Analysis, Applied Probability and Financial Risk, Linear and Generalised Linear Models and Statistical Inference.
Preparation subjects include Complex Variable and Group Theory, Probability and Random Variable, Estimation and Hypothesis Testing, Applied Probability and Financial Risk, Linear and Generalised Linear Models, Statistical Inference and Sample Surveys and Experimental Design.
Accreditation
Graduates of the Master of Statistics with a relevant undergraduate degree and 4-6 years' work experience are eligible to apply for membership as an Accredited Statistician with the Statistical Society of Australia.
