Overview

The Physiotherapy (Professional Qualification) programme from the University of Limerick combines academic study with hands-on clinical experience. It is designed for graduates from any discipline, not just those with a science degree, who want to transition into a career in physiotherapy.  

This master’s is accredited by CORU, the state registration board for Physiotherapy in Ireland. Graduates are eligible for membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP). On graduation, you will be eligible to practice in Ireland and to apply for professional registration in other parts of the world to build a career in hospitals, rehabilitation centres or in private practice.  

With a strong focus on leadership, collaboration, and innovation, you will master clinical reasoning, therapeutic interventions, and person-centred care. while applying evidence-based approaches to physiotherapy.  

During this programme, you will: 

• Develop the clinical reasoning and practical skills needed to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of conditions across musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiorespiratory physiotherapy. 

• Gain 1,000 hours of supervised clinical experience, working in real-world healthcare environments alongside experienced professionals. 

• Learn to apply evidence-based physiotherapy techniques to support patient rehabilitation, pain management, and mobility improvement. 

• Build leadership and teamwork skills, preparing you to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
