The Master of Medical Sciences (MMedSc) is available for medical graduates wishing to pursue study towards a masters programmes in a health or medically related field.
Programme Structure
Research masters- MEDSCI 796 - Thesis (120 Points); OR
- MEDSCI 797 - Research Portfolio (120 Points); OR
- MEDSCI 793 - Research Portfolio (90 Points) and 30 points from approved courses listed in the Master of Medical Science Schedule.
- MEDSCI 790 - Dissertation (60 Points)
- 60 points from the courses listed in the Master of Medical Science Schedule, including an approved research methods course if such a course has not already been passed.

General requirements
To be admitted to the MMedSc applicants must show evidence that they have both the ability to undertake postgraduate study in their chosen field, and a high level of knowledge about the proposed subject of the degree at a level beyond undergraduate study. Applicants can show this through one of the following:
- Completion of a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Science (or an equivalent degree) with an average grade of B or higher. The postgraduate diploma must have been completed in a subject related to that proposed for the masters research, OR
- Completion of Part One of a Fellowship for one of the colleges for medical practitioners. The fellowship must be in the same field as that proposed for the masters, OR
- Completion of research and/or presented work, in the subject field of the proposed masters, such that it is clear that the applicant has both the ability and the necessary subject knowledge to complete masters level study.
