The Master of Literature from University of Auckland is an alternative to the PhD if you already have a masters degree and want to complete a substantial research project.

You can complete an MLitt in most subjects offered by the Faculty of Arts, subject to approval and availability of supervision. You can further your research interests in the same subject as your first masters degree, or undertake research in a new area.
