The Communication and Media Studies programme offered by the Budapest Metropolitan University. The educational program of the course is strongly media-oriented which is based on a thorough grounding in social and behavioral sciences and present issues of intercultural communication. Complying with current social and labor market demands, the course integrates the fields of communication theory, media studies, social sciences, political science, sociology, psychology and cultural studies within the field of social sciences offering a knowledge of high standard, which can be put to a profitable and practical use in various areas.

The Communication and Media Studies programme at the Budapest Metropolitan University is designed for individuals who have strong communication skills in multiple languages, interested in intercultural communication and wishing to understand the complexity of new media tools and digital technologies.


By launching the International Communication module, we wish to provide for the training of professionals who are able to perform entrepreneurial, networking and managerial tasks in various fields of international social and political relations based on their comprehensive knowledge and skills gained in the area of mass communication and intercultural communication in addition to their excellent command of two foreign languages used for specific professional purposes.

Educational objectives:

The educational objective of the international communication module is to train experts with an excellent knowledge of English for specific purposes, experts who are able to fulfill demanding managerial, networking and organizational duties in a wide range of positions in the area of international business, politics and cultural relations. The module also highlights the development of communication skills and the acquisition of special skills related to the successful strategies of career management.

When applying to our Master programs, please make sure you enclose the following documents:

  • copy of your Bachelor diploma with the final exam results
  • copy of your Transcript of records
  • copy of the official translation of your diploma and transcript (if they are not in English or Hungarian)
  • copy of the photo-page(s) of your passport. Your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months.
  • proof of payment of the 95 EUR application fee – please note that it is not refundable

Additionally, if you have an English language exam certificate, please enclose that to your application, too. (Minimum requirement: e.g. IELTS 6.0)
