Overview

The Population and Development programme at HSE University provides a strong background in both the theory and history of population development issues together with a grounding in contemporary approaches to analysing and projecting population structure and resource requirements.

Programme goal

The programme aims to develop students’ skills in applying multi-disciplinary analytic approaches to different development and resource allocation issues, as well as deep population and demographic structure analysis. These skills are essential for public administration in numerous sectors where practical development problems arise.

Career opportunities

Graduates of the programme will have skills and knowledge in the principals of population change and social and economic development. Additionally, they will have a strong command of modern methods of data analysis. Our programme’s graduates have pursued careers in a variety of sectors, including:

Public administration work in government agencies and services at different levels.
International funds and non-governmental organizations (UN, WHO, the World Bank etc.).
Academic work at research centers and universities (starting with a PhD in a leading research centre).
Private companies (consulting, recruiting, marketing, insurance, pharmaceutical, and healthcare).
