Overview
Audiology is the clinical science involving the prevention, assessment and rehabilitation of hearing loss and associated communication disorders.
The Master of Clinical Audiology programme from The University of Western Australia provides students with extensive supervised clinical placements in a variety of workplace settings. Employment prospects for Audiologists who graduate from UWA are excellent both within Australia and overseas. Graduates are eligible for full membership of Audiology Australia.
Career Pathways
- Audiologists are hearing health care professionals responsible for the assessment and management of individuals with hearing, communication and balance problems.
- They provide clinical services in hospitals, community health centres, hearing aid clinics, and in some medical practices.
- Many audiologists are involved in research, helping to develop new behavioural and electrophysiological test techniques, cochlear implants, hearing aids and hearing health therapies.
- Some audiologists work in community and workplace settings including programmes aimed at reducing the prevalence and impact of middle ear disease in rural and remote aboriginal communities, newborn hearing screening programmes and hearing conservation programmes in industry.

- a bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA;
- a selection Weighted Average Mark (sWAM) of at least 65 per cent;
- a current Australian National Police Certificate, or equivalent certification, indicating no criminal convictions. The currency of a National Police Certificate is 12 months.
