Filmmaking Canterbury Christ Church University

Overview

From day one, you'll study modules that mirror professional production cycles and strategic decision-making processes.

Whether your interests lie in film production management, creative direction, distribution, or emerging media technologies, we'll help you build both a professional portfolio and strategic, work-ready capabilities.

What you'll learn

• Gain film production leadership knowledge and skills.
• Understand how to direct, manage, and position filmmaking across commercial contexts.
• Collaborate with peers across creative disciplines to produce innovative, professional-quality films.
• Become an industry-ready leader, able to manage complex film projects.
• Build a strong professional portfolio and industry connections to launch your career in filmmaking.

While MDes Filmmaking at CCCU shares specialist practice modules with the MA Filmmaking Master's, it is distinct in that it focuses on becoming a production leader. You’ll gain the skills to direct, manage, and strategically position filmmaking practice within broader industry and commercial contexts.

With our focus on production leadership, we'll guide you to master both creative and management skills, build confidence in strategic thinking, and plan a career in Filmmaking leadership that works for you, in the UK or globally.
