Secondary University of Roehampton

Overview

The course has four clear strengths: strong subject-specific pedagogy, professional studies that help you understand the wider responsibilities of teaching, carefully structured placement experience that builds your confidence and classroom skill over time and an experienced tutor team there to support you at every stage.

You will be taught by experienced tutors who know their subjects well and understand what makes a difference in the secondary classroom. You will also be supported by strong school partnerships and high-quality mentoring, with clear expectations and guidance that help you progress week by week.

Careers

Many secure posts locally, across Greater London and further afield, progressing into Early Career Teacher induction with strong subject knowledge and practical classroom experience.

The PGCE Secondary at the University of Roehampton prepares you to teach your subject with confidence while developing the wider professional skills schools look for, including strong communication, effective behaviour and classroom routines, inclusive practice and the ability to reflect and improve. Over time, this supports progression into roles such as pastoral responsibility, subject leadership and wider curriculum development.
