Overview
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at University of Buckingham begins with six structured modules that develop a comprehensive understanding of CBT theory, formulation, and evidence-informed practice. Learners explore foundational principles, therapeutic reasoning, and the application of CBT across mood disorders, anxiety presentations, and more complex psychological contexts. The taught stage also examines how CBT approaches adapt across diverse populations and healthcare environments, alongside reflection on professional responsibility, ethical considerations, and integration within multidisciplinary settings. Throughout this phase, learners engage critically with contemporary research while refining analytical and reflective skills through tutor-led academic discussion.
Upon completion of these modules, our MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy progresses to a supervised dissertation. This extended research project allows learners to explore a chosen area of CBT in depth and produce a substantial piece of supervised academic work.
Why choose our MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
Our Cognitive Behavioural Therapy MSc online combines structured academic learning with the opportunity to undertake independent research at Master’s level. The dissertation allows learners to move beyond guided module content and explore CBT concepts through their own analytical perspective, strengthening research confidence.
Within the CBT MSc online community, professionals from varied healthcare backgrounds across the UK and internationally contribute diverse perspectives to shared academic discussion. The progression from structured modules into dissertation work distinguishes our MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, allowing learners to engage more deeply with research and sustained academic investigation than taught study alone.
