Overview
Cardiology at University of Buckingham is for registered healthcare professionals who want to develop their understanding of cardiology across primary and secondary care alongside postgraduate research skills.

You’ll then develop your understanding of research methodologies and critical appraisal before completing an independent project relevant to cardiology or your professional role.
What you'll learn
Across the taught stage, you’ll examine cardiovascular conditions encountered across primary and secondary care. Topics include chest pain and coronary artery disease; ECG, echocardiography and cardiovascular imaging; heart failure; atrial and ventricular arrhythmias; atrial fibrillation and stroke prevention; valvular and congenital heart disease; pulmonary embolism and pulmonary hypertension; infective and inflammatory cardiovascular disorders; hypertension; dyslipidaemia; and cardiovascular risk and prevention.
Throughout the MSc, you’ll also develop your ability to critically appraise published evidence and consider its relevance to cardiovascular medicine. During the research stage, you’ll study quantitative and qualitative research, statistical interpretation, systematic reviews and meta-analysis, research ethics, audit, governance, quality improvement, and research-proposal development before undertaking your Professional Project.
