Overview
Throughout your Secondary Education Art and Design year at University of Gloucestershire, you will explore Art and Design education in ways that connect people, ideas and cultures. Considering visual literacy and the design and construction of curriculum, you will learn how to foster a sense of belonging in the classroom. Embracing wider concerns in the subject, you will embed sustainable thinking in creative practice. You will be encouraged to draw on the broad, rich and challenging history of art to inform and inspire your teaching. Alongside exploring approaches to engage and motivate students, you will develop your identity as an artist-teacher, bringing your own practice into the classroom to engage and motivate students and establish and maintain an ongoing, sustaining creative practice.
Careers
Our vision is for all of our students to become graduate ambassadors for education, leaders of learning, outstanding teachers and subject experts.
Employment rates have been consistently high for graduates and we offer you the opportunity to gain Master’s credits which count towards a full Master’s degree. This can be used to take your career in secondary education to the next level at a subsequent time.
All students undertake Master’s level modules in addition to other compulsory modules. If you pass all elements of the course at Master’s level, the award title will carry Master’s credits and QTS.
