Overview
Secondary Education History at University of Gloucestershire transforms your passion for history into confident, impactful teaching. You’ll develop the skills to think like a historian and teach like one too, using enquiry, rich sources and compelling questions to drive learning. From exploring powerful stories to analysing evidence, you’ll learn how to design lessons that build deep understanding and critical thinking over time. You’ll also be trained for the classroom of today and tomorrow. That means engaging with big ideas like decolonising the curriculum, sustainability and cultural capital, while also exploring how tools like AI can enhance teaching and learning. Grounded in scholarship and evidence-informed practice, you’ll understand not just what to teach, but why it matters.By the end of the course, you’ll be more than a History teacher, you’ll be a storyteller, a critical thinker and a guide helping young people make sense of the world through the past.
