Overview
War Studies at Queen Mary University of London teaches a critical approach to the study of war that disrupts conventional thinking about armed conflicts. One of its major purposes is to rethink war as an enduring feature of sociopolitical life rather than an exception, and therefore challenge traditional distinctions between war and peace, global and local, or military and civilian that have grown increasingly inadequate.
This programme delivers a unique, interdisciplinary approach that blends social scientific and historical research training. It will also ask you to put this knowledge into practice through either an internship or an advanced research project, thereby offering hands-on experience and key employability skills. Ultimately, our programme aims to train analysts, curators, and knowledge creators who can deal with the complexity of war in new, imaginative ways.
