Overview
Art from University of Malta bridges theory and practice thereby forming you into a reflective, inquiring and collegial professional educator. It promotes teaching and learning for democracy and social justice.
By following this course, you will specialise in Pedagogical Content Knowledge (after having obtained a first-cycle degree at first-cycle level in Content Knowledge), in Educational Context Knowledge and in Educational Research and Inquiry. These are intrinsically related to the Field Placement in schools. Furthermore, the wider educational context will be included in the programme through Educational Themes and Creative Positive Learning Environments.
Career:
On completion of the MTL, you will be eligible to apply for a teacher's warrant and will be fully qualified to teach in schools and to start a career in a field related to education. The course will also lead you to further study in the field, should you wish to obtain a degree of specialisation in Education.

General requirements
Education (Primary and Secondary Area)
Apart from being in possession of a first cycle degree obtained with at least Second Class (Honours) or Category II as indicated further below, applicants shall:
- submit a Police Good Conduct Certificate issued by the Commissioner of Police in terms of the Conduct Certificates Ordinance and
- not be included in the Register established under the Protection of Minors (Registration) Act .
In addition to the requirements for admission applicants shall be in possession of the following:
For Art: a first cycle degree with at least 70 ECTS credits in Fine Art or in a related area of study. All such applicants are required to also present a detailed portfolio showing a diversity of their recent artistic practice in different media. Applicants may be requested to sit for an interview and to provide more information about their artistic background and interest in the teaching profession.
