Overview
The Medical, Veterinary and Forensic Biotechnological Sciences programme at University of Perugia provides high-level scientific and technical training in the development and application of biotechnological approaches for disease diagnosis, prevention, therapy, animal health, and forensic investigations. The first year offers a common foundation covering human disease mechanisms, molecular diagnostics, immunology, genetics, and biotechnology techniques. In the second year, students specialize through dedicated curricula focusing on medical biotechnology, veterinary biotechnology, or forensic biotechnology. Teaching includes lectures, laboratory activities, and practical training to develop research and professional competencies.
Programme learning outcomes
Graduates will be able to demonstrate:
- methodological, technological, instrumental multidisciplinary skills that will allow to apply the theory-based knowledge towards problem-solving in the medical, veterinary and legal sectors;
- ability to plan and organize laboratory work and elaborate on experimental and diagnostic techniques;
- knowledge of various biotechnological skills to be interpreted, managed and developed for the study and application of new procedures in diagnostic areas of medical, veterinary, forensic or criminological interest.
