Overview

The Developmental Biology and Stem Cells (Research) programme offered by The University of Manchester will give you hands-on experience of cutting-edge technologies applicable to the study of normal development as well as rare developmental disorders, and transferable to other areas of medical research.

You will also gain training and experience in scientific writing and developing a research proposal and receive a grounding in a wide range of cell and developmental biology issues by attending seminars in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.

Career opportunities

Once you have graduated you be well placed to continue your scientific or medical career in the following areas:

PhD research. The extensive MSc research project will provide you with an excellent training environment and make you competitive for PhD level study.

Other clinical/science professions. For example, MBChB, science policy, journal publishing, biotechnology and NHS STP.

We require a BSc (First or Upper Second) or MBChB or equivalent from a British university (or overseas equivalent) in an appropriate biological or medical subject.

Your application form must have the following documents.

One academic reference will be sought.

Official degree certificates (with translations if not in English).@Official University transcripts (with translations if not in English).

A personal statement. This should be 300-500 words in length and cover why you want to undertake this course, any relevant past experience and what you can bring to the course, how this course fits into your future career plans, and any other relevant information.

Full CV including voluntary experience.

If English is not your first language, we require proof of your English language ability.
