Overview
Tourism Development and Management from Addis Ababa University program is designed in a way that enables graduates to critically analyze the nation’s valuable tourism resources; plan, develop, and market these resources strategically; and use them sustainably to optimize the economic, socio-cultural, and environmental benefits of tourism at local, regional and national levels.
Key facts
Graduates will be equipped with the necessary knowledge, skill and attitude needed to develop and manage the sector on a sustainable basis. In addition to the conventional class room teaching, students will enhance their hands-on experience through internships (at tour operation firms, standardized tourist hotels, event organizing companies, airline companies, museums, etc), field visits, and demonstrations. Graduates of this program are equipped to advance their career in the tourism sector as researchers and instructors at higher academic institutions, tourism planners and policy analysts, tourism marketing experts, tourism destination development and management specialists, event planners and organizers, consultants, entrepreneurs, development workers at governmental and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and offer managerial services at hospitality businesses.
