Overview

History from Addis Ababa University program offers advanced level training in the field of history with a particular focus on the history of Ethiopia and the Horn. In order to address the needs of students as well as employers and in reflection of global trends, the Department has designed four new areas of concentration for the program.

Key facts

These are political and diplomatic history; economic history; social history and environmental history. There are two requirements for admission into the program. The first is that all candidates should have a BA degree in history or any field in the social sciences and humanities. In the event of space limitations, priority will be given to holders of BA in history and those who have written senior essays in their respective fields. Second, applicants would have to pass an entrance examination that will be administered by the Department focusing on broad issues related to history and on historiography
