Overview
Genetics and Molecular Biology from Addis Ababa University students will receive a firm foundation in applied genetics and molecular Biology such as Cell biology, omics technology, Biochemistry and specialized course which includes plant genetics, human genetics/ population genetics and cytogenetic, Molecular Evolution and Phylogenetic, Quantitative Genetics and Breeding; Molecular Oncology; Molecular Diagnostics.
Key facts
The student will also be equipped in laboratory techniques in microbial and Molecular Biology and data analysis (Biostatistics and Bioinformatics). The student will do their MSc thesis research in one the specialization areas (animal genetics, plant genetics/ plant biotechnology; molecular diagnostics and vaccinology).

- The applicant should hold a BSc degree or equivalent in Biotechnology, Biology, Plant Science, Animal Science, Food and Nutrition Science, Environmental Sciences, Laboratory Technology, Veterinary Medicine, Bio-medical sciences and related fields of sciences from a recognized academic institution. A candidate is required to sit and pass the General Admission Test (GAT) to be administered by the Addis Ababa University and a written or oral examination prepared by the department.
