Zoological Science - Aquatic Ecosystems and Environmental Management from Addis Ababa University is funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC).

The program provides participants with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary to contribute directly or indirectly to conservation and wise use, and management of aquatic ecosystems and resources for the benefit of the East African nations and humanity at large.
The graduates are equipped to work as lecturers, researchers and advisors in policy matters to inland waters, research institutions, universities, consultancy firms, government ministries and lead agencies, private and non-governmental organizations. In addition, Aquatic Ecosystems & Environmental Management is geared to produce graduates able to engage in self-employment in aquaculture and integrated fish farming projects.

General requirements
- BSc degree in the study area of Biology, natural resources management, environmental science, animal sciences, fisheries/aquatic sciences, chemistry and other related fields
- The Joint Management Committee (JMC) of the program is mandated to administer qualification and screening examination as the number of applicants greatly exceeds the intake capacity of the program. In addition, applicants must pass the GAT exam based on the cutoff points and criteria set by AAU Registrar Office at the time of application. Aquatic Ecosystems and Environmental Management is highly competitive program that offers scholarships and 40% of the intake is reserved for female applicants.
