Applied Developmental Psychology from Addis Ababa University successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to possess and demonstrate a set of theoretical, research, and critical thinking skills, as well as assessment, intervention, and practical competencies.

The program is intended to produce future academics and researchers, who are expected to advance and disseminate culturally appropriate and scientifically rigorous knowledge in developmental psychology so as to addresses the developmental problems and challenges and promotes competencies and strengths of children, youth, adults, and the elderly. Graduates will be able to design developmentally and culturally appropriate intervention, education, and prevention programs, strategies, and projects promoting healthy psychological development. They will also teach psychology/developmental psychology courses in higher education institutions. Admission to the MA program in Applied Developmental Psychology shall be based on the relevant provisions of AAU including the 2024 Senate Legislation and the requirements stipulated in the Student Recruitment, Admission and Placement Policy of AAU. These include passing the graduate admission test (GAT) to a satisfactory level. Applicants to this program shall fulfill specific criteria of the School of Psychology, such as have Bachelor's degree or equivalent in psychology or related fields from a recognized university/college and pass the graduate entrance examination of the School. The MA in Developmental Psychology is a two-year program in the regular division, which aimed to prepare applied developmental psychologists for careers in human development areas. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to possess and demonstrate a set of theoretical, research, and critical thinking skills, as well as assessment, intervention, and practical competencies.
