Doctors and other health professionals are mostly bound by institutional expectations and standards of practice. Medicine should not only be focused on discovering and treating illnesses, but it is also paramount to focus on the ethical and legal aspects surrounding everyday practice.

MARA Technological University's Master in Medical Ethics & Medical Jurisprudence programme incorporates various aspects of learning modes that enable the candidates to be exposed to multiple issues concerning competency, responsibility, ethical behaviour and continuous professional development. The course was established in 2014 and it is Malaysia's first of its kind.

Goals

to establish professional relationships among relevant agencies through effective communication;
to be effective in promoting medical and ethical values in professional work;
to be competent in encouraging research in medical ethics and jurisprudence to keep abreast with current developments
to advise colleagues regarding health-related ethical issues.

General requirements

Medical, Law, or relevant Health-related undergraduate degree recognized by UiTM with CGPA ≥2.75; OR a relevant postgraduate degree recognized by UiTM.
Applicants with CGPA <2.75 require at least 1 year of relevant experience in medical ethics/law and must pass an internal assessment.
Applicants without related qualifications/experience may apply if they meet the CGPA requirement and complete prerequisite courses.
Fulfil all university requirements and any additional criteria set by the Selection Committee.
Shortlisted applicants will attend an interview; work experience and academic performance will be considered.
Submit: (a) 1000–3000 word essay on medical ethics/law, (b) personal statement, (c) CV, and (d) two recommendation letters.
