Description

Emergency Medicine program at MARA Technological University is offered as full-time for 4 years covering 3 phases of training.

The curriculum is endorsed by the Specialty Conjoint Committee of Emergency Medicine (SCCEM), Malaysia. Phase 1 focuses on the applied clinical basic sciences whilst acquiring basic training and improved understanding on the tenets of acute care medicine through rotation within different core specialties fundamental in the practice emergency medicine. Passing the Part 1 examination at the end of phase 1 serves as pre-requisite to continue into the program. Phase 2 focuses on consolidating knowledge and clinical skills through rotations within various medical and surgical-based specialties. Students will also be required to conduct research activity during this phase. In phase 3, students undertake the role of specialist-in-training while participating actively in scholarly and administrative activities related to emergency medicine.

Following successful completion of Part 2 examination at the end of phase 3, students will be awarded Master of Emergency Medicine.

General requirements

Hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS/MD/MBChB) degree or equivalent qualification from a university recognized by the JPA (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam) of Malaysia

Fully registered with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) Have working experience of at least 2 years after completing the housemanship / internship service with at least 1 year experience in the Emergency Department

Pass the MEDEX entrance examination, interview and any admission criteria required by the Specialty Conjoint Committee for Emergency Medicine (SCCEM)

Meet other conditions determined by Universiti Teknologi MARA from time to time

Hold a valid medical practice certificate from the country of origin

Hold a Temporary Practicing Certificate (TPC) from the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC)
Have an English language qualification
