Overview
Public Health Nutrition from Addis Ababa University, have a firm foundation in the principles of population and community-based nutrition interventions and evaluations, acquire epidemiologic tools on nutrition and health; and the relationships among population consumption patterns, nutrition and health, acquire practical skills in planning, implementing and reporting health research using both qualitative and quantitative research methods, have firm foundations in policy processes (domestic and international), typologies of policy initiatives (laws, global initiatives, interventions, legal restrictions, systems, and institutional mandates), and critically analyze and discuss how policy and science interact with regard to food and nutrition.

Admission requirement for the program requires that a candidate should have a first degree from a known and accredited university in nutrition, public health officer, medical doctor and other health related fields. All candidates should fulfill the admission requirement of the School of Graduate Studies of Addis Ababa University (AAU). Foreign applicants should bring English language proficiency certificate from their previous University or should bring TOEFL/IELTS exam scores. Candidates must obtain a pass mark in Graduate Admission Test (GAT) offered by AAU and department specific entrance examination.Applicants who fulfill the admission requirement will be invited to sit for an entrance written and/or oral examination that will mostly have general knowledge questions related to nutrition, biostatistics, epidemiology, reproductive health, health system management, environmental health and behavioral health science. Sitting for an interview will depend on the result of the written examination. The interview will mainly focus on general knowledge on nutrition, research experience and communication skills.
