Overview

The Philosophy course from University of Macau aims and philosophy of the Master of Arts in Philosophy are to provide graduates with a solid theoretical foundation and equip them with practical philosophical skills that can then be applied in a wide range of contexts, beyond that of a traditional professional career as a researcher or teacher of philosophy.

The MA in Philosophy is designed to accommodate both students with a BA in Philosophy and those whose undergraduate study is in a different field. For some it will provide a pathway towards research, while for others it will expand their intellectual horizons in ways that build on but go beyond their previous domains of study.

Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to

• apply philosophical thinking skills to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems

• recognize key contemporary debates to which a philosophical perspective can be applied

• develop persuasive arguments

• express ideas orally and in writing with clarity and precision

• think analytically

• use transferable critical, analytical, synthesising, and problem-solving skills in a wide range of contexts.
