Overview
The Civil and Hydraulic Engineering program at Shandong University is designed to train engineers who can handle both traditional civil engineering projects and complex water resource systems. It integrates structural engineering, fluid mechanics, hydrology, geotechnical engineering, and environmental engineering to address modern challenges in infrastructure development and water management. (en.tjsl.sdu.edu.cn)At Shandong University, students in Civil and Hydraulic Engineering learn how to design and manage hydraulic structures such as dams, canals, flood control systems, water supply networks, and drainage systems. The program also covers core civil engineering subjects like structural mechanics, construction materials, and foundation engineering.
A strong emphasis is placed on sustainability, disaster prevention (such as flood control), and efficient water resource utilization. Students participate in laboratory experiments, field investigations, and engineering design projects to develop practical problem-solving skills for real-world infrastructure and hydraulic challenges. Graduates are prepared to contribute to large-scale infrastructure, environmental protection, and water resource development projects.
