Overview
The Master in Chemical and Biological Engineering at University of Minho specific intervention areas are located in multidisciplinary domains of Biological and Chemical Sciences and Technologies, in the Fermentation, Pharmaceutical and Agrifood Industries, in the Chemical Industry and in the Biomedical and Environmental areas.The training will be based on:- A solid background in the fields of Chemical & Biological Engineering.- A thorough knowledge of the disciplines of the area, adequately combining theoretical and practical aspects, and engineering design.- In the versatility of choosing optional courses from other areas of Engineering (Industrial and Systems), Science (Bio / Chemistry, Biophysics), Applied Psychology or Management.- In the implementation of new teaching-learning methodologies.
Key learning outcomes
The Master graduate in Chemical and Biological Engineering should achieve the following general learning objectives:
1. Demonstrate advanced knowledge in Chemical and Biological Engineering Sciences;
2. Apply the appropriate knowledge in the synthesis, analysis and design of processes and implementation of projects related to chemical and biological processes, integrating aspects related to management and quality control;
3. Integrate multidisciplinary teams for product development and projects in Chemical and Biological Engineering;
4. Develop innovative solutions and / or products in the field of chemical or biological technologies;
5. Exhibit entrepreneurial and consultancy skills in specific areas of the study cycle;
6. Exhibit creativity, proactive attitude and communication skills, as well as the permanent need for updating knowledge;
7. Reveal leadership skills while being able to work in teams and networks, with citizenship awareness and eco-sustainable performance.

One of the following conditions:a) Holders of a bachelor's degree, or legal equivalent, in Chemical and Biological Engineering, or in Chemical Engineering, or Biological Engineering, or Bioengineering, or related science and technology fields, with at least 5 ECTS in Biology or Chemistry;b) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree awarded following a 1st-cycle study program organized according to the Bologna principles by a state adhering to this process, in the knowledge areas mentioned in a);c) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree recognized by the Scientific Council of the School of Engineering as meeting the objectives of a bachelor's degree, in the knowledge areas mentioned in a);d) Holders of an academic, scientific, or professional curriculum recognized by the Scientific Council of the School of Engineering as demonstrating the capacity to undertake this study cycle.
