Overview
Combining fundamental knowledge in the field of optics with more practical operational and design aspects of modern optoelectronics systems, the program aims to provide graduates with all the tools needed for a successful career in applied photonics. While general engineering approaches (modeling, design) remain the strong focus of the program, much time is also devoted to modern processing methods, including the use of machine learning and the development of optical neural networks. The program leverages the state-of-the-art photonics facilities at Skoltech to support the development of advanced photonic devices for telecommunications, medicine, laser technology, quantum technologies, etc., providing students with unique hands-on experience with cutting-edge equipment. Special emphasis is put on modern photonic information systems implemented in an integrated format, including photonic integrated circuits (systems on a chip).
Designed and provided in close collaboration with industrial and commercial partners, the program responds to the latest industry trends and needs of a rapidly growing market, ensuring the future success of its graduates in both academic and industrial environments.
Students of the program
