Mental Health and Wellbeing in Practice from Manchester Metropolitan University programme combines both hands-on practice through a work-integrated learning placement with the theoretical foundations and fundamentals of clinical psychology and psychiatry in understanding mental health and wellbeing in different areas ranging from children and young people and elderly individuals with recognition of intersections, diversity and culture.

The MSc Mental Health and Wellbeing in Practice focuses on the growing importance of mental health, heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic. The course also aligns closely with the holistic approach developing in supporting the wellbeing of adults using teams across the community and healthcare. The programme will explore mental health and wellbeing not only in the UK but globally looking at trends and differences in the understanding, management, approach and conceptualisation towards psychological distress and mental health across cultures and countries.

Undergraduate 2:1 award or above (or overseas equivalent) in Psychology or related to the allied health/social care professions eg. medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, social work, speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, education, is typically required.
Graduates from allied health courses and other careers are welcome to apply for this programme if they are interested in a career change.
