Overview

He/she has a deep knowledge of the content of the disciplines of his/her specialization, the principles of its structure, is familiar with the methodology of production of the content of the field and its broader cultural and social contexts. He/she can work with this content as a product of human (scientific) activity, and in this context he/she can design it for didactic purposes and purposes. 

The graduate of  Teaching English Language and Literature in Combination programme from University of Presov is able to independently design, implement and reflect on the teaching of the English language as a foreign language at the level of lower and upper secondary education, can adapt educational programmes to the specific conditions of the pupils, the school class and the type of school, is able to effectively support the development of the pupils' global skills. He/She is able to arouse and deepen students' interest in learning foreign languages, motivate them and enable them to effectively develop and use communication competences (linguistic, sociolinguistic, pragmatic), as well as general and transversal competences so that they can successfully communicate in the target language at a given level. In addition to mastering this basic teaching competence, the graduate is able to use his/her digital skills to create didactic texts and resources and participate in the creation of curricular documents. He/She is also able to analyze and assess alternative secondary education programmes, can describe, analyze and propose a methodological and methodical procedure for examining educational phenomena and phenomena of pedagogical reality and effectively communicate pedagogical and professional knowledge with the wider environment of the lay and professional community.

The graduate has extensive language, speech and intercultural competence. He/she can communicate adequately in oral and written form at the language level C1+ (according to the Common Framework of Reference for Languages). He/she masters the conceptual apparatus of linguistics, literary studies and foreign language teaching didactics. He/she is able to effectively didactically present theoretical knowledge. He/she has deep linguistic and literary studies knowledge that he/she is able to apply in practice. He/she masters the basics of bilingual speech mediation (translation/interpreting). He/she has basic knowledge of translation strategies and techniques of simultaneous and consecutive interpreting.
