Overview
The Computational Biology course from Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence prepares students for collaborative work with biologists, chemists, and clinicians by fostering interdisciplinary communication and teamwork. The programme aims to prepare students to join the workforce in biotechnology and healthcare or to pursue a Ph.D.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the programme requirements, graduates will be able to:
- Critically evaluate and analyze scientific literature across computational biology, life sciences, and engineering.
- Apply a range of computational tools and technologies to address problems of varying complexity, especially computational and experimental tools and methods utilized in life sciences, biotechnology and healthcare.
- Utilize methods and tools to integrate, analyze and interpret biological data from various sources, respecting ethical norms and personal data privacy.
- Independently design and execute scientific experiments, that aim to evaluate, replicate or build upon current knowledge relating to biological systems.
- Appraise and communicate data and scientific findings effectively to any audience, orally, visually, and in written format, individually or in teams.
- Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in collaborative research projects.

General requirements
- Applicants to MBZUAI’s graduate programmes must hold a degree in a STEM field such as computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, mathematics, physics, or other relevant science or engineering majors from an accredited University or college recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE), with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 or 3.5 (on a scale of 4.0) depending on the programme.
- Senior-level students can apply initially with a copy of their transcript and upon admission must submit official complete degree certificate/transcript.
- A degree attestation (for degrees from the UAE) or a Certificate of Recognition (for degrees acquired outside the UAE) should also be furnished within their first semester at the University.
