Overview
The Collaborative Piano course from The Juilliard School curriculums in both the instrumental and vocal tracks, this collaborative piano program meprepares students for careers as performers, coaches and teaching artists as the field of collaborative piano develops rapidly throughout Asia. As a collaborative piano major, you will experience a programme that will prepare you for a life in the profession by emphasizing exposure to a broad array of repertoire, collaborative skills, and interpretive traditions. All collaborative piano students receive private lessons and coachings from the school’s resident faculty as well as study with Juilliard New York faculty members and other visiting artist-teachers.
As a student in the programme, you will:
- experience numerous opportunities for public performances with singers and instrumentalists
- hone coaching and collaborative skills by working with instrumentalists and singers of all levels and backgrounds
- gain practical experience working in a variety of collaborative settings at Tianjin Juilliard
- develop skills that will allow you to find a place in the profession as a coach, performing artist, and teacher

General requirements
A bachelor's degree or its equivalent by the time you matriculate (generally including at least 24 credits in liberal arts subjects)
Musical training at a high level
English language proficiency that meets our outlined requirements
Tianjin Juilliard offers master of music degrees in Instrumental and Orchestral Studies, Instrumental and Chamber Music, Collaborative Piano and Composition. If you already have a master of music degree in one of these majors, you are not eligible to apply for that same major. However, you may apply for a different major. (For example, if you already have a master of music degree in violin, you are eligible to apply either our chamber or instrumental and orchestral studies programs.)
If you apply to this degree program and are denied admission, you can apply again in a future application cycle. After three unsuccessful attempts applying to the same major, you are no longer eligible to apply.
